Plett Rage is the longest running and arguably largest student festival in the Southern Hemisphere! It caters for students that are celebrating the end of high school, and includes beach events, sports competitions, brand activations and SA’s top music acts. Plett Rage unofficially started off as a few hundred students migrating to Plett for a few days in the early 80’s for good times and to celebrate the summer. Fast forward to today and Rage is now days of partying at awesome festival venues, 300 staff to help you and of course 15,000 of your fellow students rocking it out to the biggest and best of SA’s live and electronic music scene.

As always it takes place from Plettenberg Bay’s sheltered Hobie Beach. The sight of a fleet of beautiful, multi-coloured sails in the Bay has become an integral part of Plett’s festive season and one remembered by many visitors and residents as far back as their childhoods. For sailors this legendary regatta is one for the bucket list! Hobie sailors are famously easy-going and friendly, and members of the public are welcome to come down to Hobie Beach and "meet the fleet" when the boats are on the beach. Who knows, you may like it so much it may be you out there next time!

The Kia Beach Tennis Tour forms part of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Beach Tennis Tour and spans two weeks in December. The four events that make up the KIA Summer Slam will all be ITF ranking tournaments and coupled with a total prize money pot in excess of $35 000. Summer crowds will witness some of the world’s best beach tennis players competing on our South African shores. It’s a fun and fresh format that is open to everyone, regardless of experience or skills. More than that, it is absolutely action packed! We look forward to seeing South African holidaymakers putting their skills to test against some of the best in the world.

The Plett MTB Festival offers the whole family an opportunity to get involved in the fastest growing sport in Africa. 2018 information - Entry by donation to Knysna-Sedgefield Hospice. Attendees are requested to bring a gift, which Father Christmas, who always makes an appearance, can collect and distribute to the needy children of Knysna. Candles and song sheets are provided and the families gather around the gazebo where, accompanied by a choir and band, they sing all the familiar songs of Christmas. The highlight of the evening, and also the most moving, is the lighting of the memory candles. People can buy memory candles during the two weeks preceding the event and on the evening for this purpose.

The Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge takes place every year at the end of December and is one of the biggest sporting events on the Plettenberg Bay Event Calendar. The town of Plett becomes draped in pink as approximately 3000 athletes of all age, shape and size come out to compete in the many different events all in aid of raising funds for the Sabrina Love Foundation and our many special needs children that we look after. These events are the only open-water water polo festivals of their kind in Africa and will be held at the Knysna Waterfront in two specially made floating arenas.

Join us for a truly unique journey on your mountain bike, up the Eastern Coast of South Africa : the 2020 staging of the Prudential PE PLETT. The 8th staging of the Prudential PE Plett will be set off from the prestigious Kurland Polo Fields, only a few minutes drive from the heart of Plettenberg Bay and finish 4 days later on a massive downhill flow trail run into Crossways Farm Village. As there is no time bar on the Prudential PE PLETT even a social mountain biker could complete the TOUGH One. The LITE is designed for those social riders with an average daily distances of 60km and elevation of 1200m .

The focus in the main arena will be on rare and exotic cars, such as Dr Waldo Scribante’s 1971 Porsche 914, of which only seven were manufactured. We want to focus on rare collectors’ items which are not readily available to everybody. We believe that these cars will lend special status to the George Old Car Show.

2019 information - A wheelchair race exclusively for disabled athletes! And - every year it is getting bigger and better! The number of entries has increased dramatically, with disabled athletes and other persons in wheelchairs flocking to this annual event. The Challenge is unique as being the first and only event exclusively for the disabled in South Africa. Athletes in racing wheelchairs, adapted bicycles, hand cycles, basketball chairs and ordinary wheelchairs have made this into the premier sporting event for the disabled on the South African sporting calendar. It undoubtedly has the potential to develop into one of the best events of its kind in the world!

2019 information - The riding at the Bull is sublime! It always has been, but 2019 really steps up with intensely beautiful trails. The stages have been shortened to an average 60km. Ridden at a social pace there is nothing overly technical, just a flow of forest, ocean and mountain trails. Ridden at full throttle it's a self-inflicted pain cave and the race for R100k will be sharp and furious.

A 2-day stage trail running event, set on a farm nestled in the Outeniqua mountains, halfway between bustling George and tranquil Knysna. 2019 information - The Veteran Tour will take part on the eve of the George Old Car Show on 8 February. The Veteran Tour will depart from Klaarstroom on Friday morning. We expect some 20 cars to take place. Two or three of these will be single cylinder cars manufactured before 1905 and will fit in nicely with the focus on rare and exclusive cars.

2019 information - The weekend begins with the Friday Night Ceilidh at Loerie Park. Saturday's activity commences in town at 9.30am with the Street March competition followed by Massed Pipes and Drums through the centre of town/N2. This is a spectacle not to be missed and only seen in Knysna once a year! From 11.00am onward the Celtic Festival continues at Loerie park featuring the following activities and events: Pipe Band Competition, Highland Dancing Championship, Scottish Country Dancing, Highland Games, Lunch time entertainment, Beer Garden and food stalls. Then from 5.00pm to 9.00pm, and probably the highlight of the festival for some, is the Sundowners Concert.

Jenny and the Jameses, whose popularity continues to grow, will open the show with their outrageously gifted array of melodies. Fresh from recording their latest CD, Cape Town favourites, Blacksmith, will perform a full set in their uniquely charismatic style. Next up, the Knysna & Districts Pipe Band, and the Castle Rock Ceilidh Band, will take your breath away with their moving repertoire. 2019 information - Naturally, there'll be oysters at this year's Flavours of Knysna - the Knysna Oyster Festival's annual cooking competition - but they won't be the subject of the competition itself. Instead, that honour will go to the versatile canapé when local chefs come out to play on Wednesday 26 June. They can make any kind of canapés they like and the guests will judge them, and vote on them, accordingly. The idea is to highlight the many talents of the chefs by allowing them to cast their nets more widely than they could when entries were limited to oysters alone. Music for the evening will be provided by Knysna's stalwart DJ, Alan Sass. Drinks at the cash bar will come from local breweries and Knysna's own gin distillery.

2018 information - Teams from across the world design and build solar-powered vehicles to drive across South Africa in an eight-day event. Local and international solar-powered cars travel as far as they can on various roads and loops between Pretoria and Cape Town. In 2018, the teams are expected to travel distances between 2,500 and 5,000 km. The 2018 event traverses some of the world’s most beautiful and diverse landscapes, from savannah and mountains to coastal forest. International teams are attracted to the challenge of competing in varying road conditions and weather situations, across an altitude that ranges by nearly 2,000 metres.

2018 information - Knysna will once again host the annual Midway Classic Regatta and Heads Race. More than 300 rowers and their supporters will descend on Knysna for two days of racing, showcasing some of the top rowing talent in South Africa. The event, which offers a free entry marquee with luxury food and beverage vendors from the local Knysna area, will be packed with activity. In classic, rowing regatta style, tables, benches and umbrellas will line the Belvidere Water’s edge to accommodate spectators at the event.

Event merchandise will be on sale and a collection of vintage, hand built speed boats and yachts will be presented on the water and on the lawn in front of the Turbine Hotel. The route follows gravel roads and trails of the farmlands in Swellendam, into the semi desert of the Little Karoo, along the lush Garden Route, through the Knysna forest and finishes at the breathtaking coast of Plettenberg Bay. The expo will also feature the annual Wildflower Show, done in conjunction with the George flower arrangers. Local musicians will provide live music throughout the day and a themed art exhibition will be held - focusing on nature and plants / animals. 2019 information - The Knysna Extreme Triathlon is a challenging Point-To-Point, self-supported race that takes place along South Africa’s scenic Garden Route. The course starts with a 5 km swim in the Knysna Estuary, followed by a 174 km cycle through coastal, mountain and semi-desert scenery. This is then followed by a 50 km run through plantations and the Knysna forest. It is a grueling, yet scenic route that takes triathletes back to the purest form of the sport. The route will test your fitness levels and pure mental strength and determination. An altitude gain of nearly 3,400m over a total distance of 229 km, makes it an extreme triathlon that offers an exciting personal challenge for athletes.
