The "World's Toughest Inflatable Boat Challenge" starts every year on 28 December at Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. It is a fast-paced, action-packed water sports event with over 40 inflatable boats battling it out in the waves.

Knysna residents and visitors are in for a treat, with the first competition of the 2020 South African waterski season taking place at Portland Manor off the Rheenendal road. South Africa's top waterski athletes will be joined by two top international water skiers, former national women's USA champion Leza Harrison from Orlando and former world for trick skiing champion Yves Saintviteaux from Belgium. On Saturday the skiers start with two rounds of slalom skiing at 9am followed by two rounds of trick skiing. On Sunday there will be two rounds of slalom. Admission to the Portland Manor is free and refreshments will be available.

These festivals have become an integral part of Oakhill School, not only to grow the game of water polo but to expose our beautiful town and everything it has to offer to the festival visitors. These events are the only open-water water polo festivals of their kind in Africa and will be held at the Knysna Waterfront in two specially made floating arenas.

The 8th staging of the Prudential PE Plett will be set off from the prestigious Kurland Polo Fields, only a few minutes drive from the heart of Plettenberg Bay and finish 4 days later on a massive downhill flow trail run into Crossways Farm Village. As there is no time bar on the Prudential PE PLETT even a social mountain biker could complete the TOUGH One. The LITE is designed for those social riders with an average daily distances of 60km and elevation of 1200m .

2019 information - A wheelchair race exclusively for disabled athletes! And - every year it is getting bigger and better! The number of entries has increased dramatically, with disabled athletes and other persons in wheelchairs flocking to this annual event. The Challenge is unique as being the first and only event exclusively for the disabled in South Africa. Athletes in racing wheelchairs, adapted bicycles, hand cycles, basketball chairs and ordinary wheelchairs have made this into the premier sporting event for the disabled on the South African sporting calendar. It undoubtedly has the potential to develop into one of the best events of its kind in the world!

Ridden at a social pace there is nothing overly technical, just a flow of forest, ocean and mountain trails. Ridden at full throttle it's a self-inflicted pain cave and the race for R100k will be sharp and furious.

All the races take place in and around Sedgefield, giving those taking part a grand tour of some of the village’s most beautiful areas. The flat course of the 10km event has always been popular amongst the ′speedsters′ of both the running and walking sectors. For those runners who are a looking for something longer and tougher the original ″TUFF″ 30km course is just what the doctor ordered. The Trail Run presents a challenging course that includes sections along the beach, through the Goukamma Nature Reserve, and some serious ′dune work′. And of course the youngsters (and perhaps not-so-fit) haven’t been forgotten with a gentle 3km fun run which always attracts great numbers of younger athletes.

2019 information - The Buco Lions Karoo to Coast Mountain Bike Race has been selected as an Official Premier Seeding Event of the 2019 Cape Town Cycle Tour. The event is a 100km off road race from UNIONDALE to KNYSNA via the Prince Alfred's Pass. The route is scenic, challenging and riders are encouraged to train sufficiently for this event in order to maximise the enjoyment of the experience. Only 4500 entries will be made available in 2019.

The routes will be 5km and 10km with some never before seen single tracks crafted from Bush Pig paths in the forest. The 10km route will include a kloof crossing that has been closed for the last 20 years. With lots of space to chill in the sun with a snack from the Roost Food Trailer a great mornings fun can be expected.

The Knysna Extreme Triathlon is a challenging Point-To-Point, self-supported race that takes place along South Africa’s scenic Garden Route. The course starts with a 5 km swim in the Knysna Estuary, followed by a 174 km cycle through coastal, mountain and semi-desert scenery. This is then followed by a 50 km run through plantations and the Knysna forest. It is a grueling, yet scenic route that takes triathletes back to the purest form of the sport. The route will test your fitness levels and pure mental strength and determination. An altitude gain of nearly 3,400m over a total distance of 229 km, makes it an extreme triathlon that offers an exciting personal challenge for athletes.

Our run will be hosted in the car park area of Moss and Maple with runners more than welcome to visit the restaurant before and after the run for a coffee and a breakfast.

The 13km Run will have the best of the first few kilometres of the Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail and then head down towards the coast and run parallel to the world renowned Otter Trail. This will be a sublime route and I am sure will be spoken about for time to come. The shorter 6,5km route will also have the best of both worlds on a smaller scale. The Covie Community will be out in force with refreshments and eats as will the Roost coffee wagon be there.

Hobie sailors are famously easy-going and friendly, and members of the public are welcome to come down to Hobie Beach and "meet the fleet" when the boats are on the beach. The Sea 2 Tower is a trail run that starts in the heart of Knysna and finishes at the top of the Knysna Forest 40km away. A challenging yet beautiful route. Runners will start off at sea level, wind their way up through the Knysna forest, before climbing a 6m steel ladder into the Forest Tower itself. Finishers will be greeted by the Forest Rangers manning the tower with spectacular views over the surrounding forest, mountains and valleys.

The Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge takes place every year at the end of December and is one of the biggest sporting events on the Plettenberg Bay Event Calendar. The town of Plett becomes draped in pink as approximately 3000 athletes of all age, shape and size come out to compete in the many different events all in aid of raising funds for the Sabrina Love Foundation and our many special needs children that we look after. The must-do Sabrina Love Challenge this year takes place entirely within the magnificent private estates of Kurland. The trail runs and MTB routes will take you through breathtaking sections of indigenous forest, cool river crossings, mountain peaks with sweeping views and something for all levels of athletes.

Two exciting events provide enjoyment for both participants and spectators and challenges for the whole family! Brave the waters and swim the SPLASH KNYSNA LAGOON MILE - Watch your yellow duck race in the SPLASH QUACK ATTACK DUCK RACE. You can have a great time while supporting some of Knysna’s community projects. The SPLASH festival is for both locals and visitors and promises to be lots of fun for the whole family, competitors and spectators!

2019 information - The "World's Toughest Inflatable Boat Challenge" starts every year on 28 December at Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. It is a fast-paced, action-packed water sports event with over 40 inflatable boats battling it out in the waves.
