"Great place to stay and would definitely go back. Everything you wanted in a b&b was there. Steve and Roeleen were fantastic. They gave us lots of ideas of places to go and restaurants to try - all really good. (BTW Steve, we got to see the caves at Pinnacle Point ☺) They also booked restaurants etc for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. From the welcome we received and throughout our 4 day stay, all was perfect. Our room also had the most fantastic view. Also you can walk down the hill to town and then easily get an Uber back up."

"Diese Unterkunft ist ein echter Traum. Allein der Blick vom Bett hinaus auf Knysna ist unbezahlbar. Das Zimmer war sehr riesig, mit großen und total bequemen Betten. Das Beste waren aber unsere Gastgeber Steve und Roeleen. Sie haben sich sehr lieb um uns gekümmert. Angefangen beim gemeinsamen Abend im Yachtklub, dem Wein an der eigenen Bar oder der Partie Billard. Beide haben viel erlebt und es war uns eine große Freude, Zeit mit ihnen zu verbringen. Roeleen und Steve haben uns jeden Morgen ein tolles Frühstück zubereitet. Danke für die schöne Zeit."
(This accommodation is a real dream. The view from the bed alone to Knysna is priceless. The room was very huge, with large and totally comfortable beds. The best part was our hosts Steve and Roeleen. They took very good care of us. Starting with the shared evening at the Yacht club, the wine at the own bar or the game of billiards. Both have experienced a lot and it was a great pleasure to spend time with them. Roeleen and Steve prepared a great breakfast for us every morning. Thanks for the lovely time.)

Roleen and Steve are attentive hosts who were keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay, recommending (and booking!) restaurants and suggesting activities. They are very knowledgeable about the area. Plenty of choice for breakfasts. Although the location is not central, it is an easy walk to the Waterfront area."

"Roeléén & Steve, die Gastgeber und Besitzer haben Ihr Haus mit viel Liebe und Herz eingerichtet und gepflegt. Obwohl das Haus 1926 gebaut und 2015 renoviert wurde hat man den Eindruck, dass es erst vor wenigen Tagen eröffnet wurde. Es gibt einen hauseigenen geschützten Parkplatz. Wir wurden herzlich von den beiden empfangen und nachdem Sie uns die Zimmer und einige andere Info gegeben hatten, wurden wir später zu dem obligatorischen “Willkommensdrink” and die poolseitig gelegene Bar eingeladen. Dort haben wir dann entspannt unsere Drinks zu uns genommen und Roeléén & Steve haben uns mit vielen hilfreichen Tips zu Unternehmungen rund um Knysa versorgt. Das ganze wurde durch eine Bildershow die auf einem Fernseher lief untermalt. Das Zimmer ist exact so wie es auf den Bildern dargestellt wird. Der Ausblick über Knysna und die Bucht ist einfach fantastisch. Das Frühst&uuck wird frisch zubereitet und nach Wunsch angepasst. Es fehlte wirklich an nichts. Wenn man dann nach dem Frühstück zurück aufs Zimmer kam, war dieses bereits wieder vom Personal hergerichtet. Das habe ich so auch noch nicht erlebt. Für alle die gerne Billard spielen sei gesagt, dass Steve einen Billardraum hat und immer gerne zu einem Spiel oder zwei und mehr bereit ist und sich über jede Gelegenheit freut die Kugeln rollen zu lassen. Roeléén versorgte uns mit Snacks und Drinks und es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht.

(Roeléén & Steve, the hosts and owners, have furnished and maintained their house with a lot of love and heart. Although the house was built in 1926 and renovated in 2015, you get the impression that it was only opened a few days ago. There is a private, secure parking lot. We were warmly welcomed by the two of them and after they had given us the rooms and some other information, we were later invited to the obligatory “welcome drink” at the bar by the pool. There we relaxed and enjoyed our drinks and Roeléén & Steve gave us lots of helpful tips on things to do around Knysna. The whole thing was accompanied by a slide show that was running on a TV. The room is exactly as it is shown in the pictures. The view over Knysna and the bay is simply fantastic. The breakfast is freshly prepared and adapted to your wishes. There was really nothing missing. When you came back to your room after breakfast, it had already been prepared by the staff. I have never experienced anything like that before. For those who like to play pool, Steve has a pool room and is always up for a game or two or more and is happy to take any opportunity to get the balls rolling. Roeléén provided us with snacks and drinks and it was a lot of fun.
This house deserves every recommendation.)

"Where to start ? It´s a beautifull and luxurious guesthouse in a quiet residential area with stunning view of the lagoon. The whole place is kept immaculately. But the real reason you shoud definitely stay here are Roeleen and Steve. You couldn´t feel more at home while on holiday. They take excellent care of their guests, can provide you with a wealth of information on things to do, but are above all just lovely and fun people. For us they are reason enough to come back to Knysna."

(It is a very lovingly run guest house. You can tell straight away that they both really enjoy being hosts. Every guest is very personally taken care of. If you want to be looked after warmly and personally, this is the place for you. If you would rather "keep yourself to yourself" and want to stay relatively anonymously, this is the wrong place. We were welcomed with a welcome drink and we were also treated very individually (vegetarian) at breakfast. You can tell immediately, the passion they have for their guests. (If I could give 12 stars I would. Staying at Westhill Guest House was unique from the first minute. We travel a lot, we have never experienced such warm hospitality from Steve & Roeléén. The rooms are beautifully decorated, really clean, the bed extremely comfortable and the view of the lagoon makes for speechless. The breakfast is very individually compiled by the two according to the wishes of the guests. And then the warmth of the hosts. We wanted to sail in the beautiful Knysna lagoon, Roeléén organized a day tour with skipper to see whales and seals, we wanted to see rugby and were invited to watch together in a short time. Thank you Steve we learned a lot.)

"This guest house has been built by travellers, for travellers. Rooms are spacious, beautiful and full of little details like electrical sockets for many different types international plug and refrigerators outside of the room to avoid unwanted noise while you sleep. The views of the harbour are great and the bar at the side of the pool is a nice touch - but all of this pales in comparison to the warmth of our hosts during our stay. Never before have I felt guest house owners so invested in the success of our trip. From the very first welcome drinks they'll move heaven and earth to share their wealth of local knowledge and experience to help you plan your trip. Once plans are made they will do there damndest to help organise it for you. Above all they're warm, wholesome people who you can't help but want to spend time with."

Sie haben sich oberhalb von Knysna ein helles, wunderschönes, sehr gepflegtes und großzügiges Anwesen mit einem spektakulären Blick Blick auf die Bay geschaffen, den wir vom Balkon unseres Zimmers immer wieder genießen konnten. Die (blitzsauberen) Räume sind modern, neu, stilvoll in weiß gehalten und überaus großzügig, was auch für das chicke Bad gilt. Sofort haben wir uns schon bei der Begrüßung (mit einem Glas Wein in der separaten Bar am Pool) sehr wohl gefühlt. Steve und Roesleen haben uns wertvolle Tipps zu Unternehmungen, aber auch zu Restaurants geben können. Das Zentrum (Waterfront) ist fußläufig in ca. 10 min erreichbar. Für den Rückweg nach unseren Restaurantbesuchen haben uns unsere Gastgeber einen Fahrer gebucht, weil wir den Hügel zum Westhill am späteren Abend nicht hinauflaufen wollten. Wir sind begeistert vom Westhill und seinen netten, liebenswürdigen Gastgebern und würden in Knysna jederzeit dort wieder wohnen wollen."
(For two days we were guests of the indescribably nice, helpful and extremely friendly hosts Roeleen and Steve. Above Knysna, they have created a bright, beautiful, well maintained and spacious property with a spectacular view of the bay, which we could enjoy from the balcony of our room again and again. The (spotless) rooms are modern, new, stylish in white and very generous, which also applies to the chic bathroom. Immediately we felt very comfortable at the welcome (with a glass of wine in the separate bar by the pool). Steve and Roeleen gave us valuable tips on things to do, but also about restaurants. The center (waterfront) is within walking distance in about 10 minutes. For the way back from our restaurant visits the waiters booked a driver, because we did not want to walk up the hill to Westhill later in the evening. We are thrilled with Westhill and its nice, amiable hosts and would want to stay there again anytime in Knysna.)

Roeléén e Steve, parabéns pelo atendimento. Quando voltarmos a Knysna certamente ficarmos no Westhill novamente."

But the highlight was the super VIP service that the owners (Roeléén and Steve) gave us. Unser Zimmer war wunderschön, sehr grosszügig, modern, komfortabel und mit einem super Ausblick in die Lagune. Durch die Hanglage konnten wir die Aussicht richtig geniessen und waren trotzdem überall sehr schnell mit dem Auto. Falls wir wieder einmal in Knysna sind, würden wir sofort wieder dieses Guest House bevorzugen!"
(Westhill Luxury Guest House is just fantastic! The hostess Roeleen was already waiting and welcomed us warmly. After checking in, we were allowed into the pool house for a welcome drink, where Roeleen showed us some photos and gave lots of tips on Knysna and the surrounding area. She then did a restaurant reservation for us. The breakfast was delicious and was very lovingly prepared, it just did not lack anything! Our room was beautiful, very spacious, modern, comfortable and with a great view of the lagoon. Due to the hillside we could really enjoy the view and could still get everywhere very quickly by car. If we are in Knysna again, we would immediately go back to this guest house again!)

Steve and Roelene prepare lovely breakfasts with a good choice of options. They also open their bar opposite the swimming pool in early evening with good chat and a good choice of beverage. The only criticism we would have is that there was no power back-up facility (except a battery powered lamp), which meant that the Internet and TV (for streaming purposes) could not be used during long power outages, sometimes from 8.00pm till after midnight. The power outages are getting worse in South Africa and two other places that we stayed at, provided Internet and TV power back-up with DSTV so that films, sport or entertainment channels could be accessed during these power outages. This facility would have made our stay much more enjoyable."

Steve und Roesleen haben uns wertvolle Tipps zu Unternehmungen, aber auch zu Restaurants geben können. Das Zentrum (Waterfront) ist fußläufig in ca. 10 min erreichbar. Für den Rückweg nach unseren Restaurantbesuchen haben uns unsere Gastgeber einen Fahrer gebucht, weil wir den Hügel zum Westhill am späteren Abend nicht hinauflaufen wollten. Wir sind begeistert vom Westhill und seinen netten, liebenswürdigen Gastgebern und würden in Knysna jederzeit dort wieder wohnen wollen."
(For two days we were guests of the indescribably nice, helpful and extremely friendly hosts Roeleen and Steve. Above Knysna, they have created a bright, beautiful, well maintained and spacious property with a spectacular view of the bay, which we could enjoy from the balcony of our room again and again. The (spotless) rooms are modern, new, stylish in white and very generous, which also applies to the chic bathroom. Immediately we felt very comfortable at the welcome (with a glass of wine in the separate bar by the pool). Steve and Roeleen gave us valuable tips on things to do, but also about restaurants. The center (waterfront) is within walking distance in about 10 minutes. For the way back from our restaurant visits the waiters booked a driver, because we did not want to walk up the hill to Westhill later in the evening. We are thrilled with Westhill and its nice, amiable hosts and would want to stay there again anytime in Knysna.)

On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Roeléén and Steve. From the balcony of our super nicely furnished, very large room we had a wonderful view of the lagoon. Sie waren fast enttäuscht, dass wir nicht das ganze Frühstück genießen wollten und uns vornehmlich auf Früchte und etwas Wurst konzentrierten. Die Zimmer sind groß, modern, auf dem neuesten Stand der Technik (sehr gutes Wifi) sowie tolle übergroße Betten. Das Badezimmer mit der großen Dusche hält jedem Vergleich stand. Den schönen Swimmingpool haben wir nicht genutzt doch erscheint er sehr, sehr sauber.
Und dann ist noch der Ausblick: Die Amerikaner sagen “1 Million Dollar View”!

(On our annual South African vactation we went to some lovely guesthouses, cottages and hotels.
This one week at Westhill Guest House is definitely one of the best! The hosts and owners, Roeléén and Steve made every effort to ensure the well-being of their guests. They were almost disappointed that we did not want to enjoy the full breakfast and focused mainly on fruits and some sausage. The rooms are large, modern, state of the art (very good wifi) and great oversized beds. The bathroom with the large shower can withstand every comparison. The beautiful swimming pool we did not use but it seems very, very clean.
And then there is the view: The Americans say “1 Million Dollar View”!

"Westhill Luxury Guest House proved to be the perfect place to stay for a relaxing getaway as well as a great base whilst exploring some of the attractions around Knysna. Hosts Roeleen and Steve couldn't have done any more to help make our stay more memorable than it became and that was obvious from the moment we arrived and we received a complimentary welcome drink at the bar next to the pool area, where one could take a dip or just lie around on the sunbeds provided, and we received a full run down of all the facilities whilst getting to know our hosts a little better. The Guest House is in an almost perfect location, on a quiet residential street with amazing views across the Knysna Lagoon to the Knysna Heads and the Indian Ocean, yet also only a few minutes walk into the town centre and the Waterfront. Our room was modern, clean, airy and comfortable with a huge comfy bed, a choice of pillows, slippers, fluffy gowns, toiletries, tea & coffee facilities, sat tv alarm clock radio with usb points, air con and fan, safe and a full range of adaptors and plug sockets so gadgets could be used and charged, no matter which part of the world you'd come from. Also, there is nothing worse than a buzzy old mini fridge which one finds in many b&b's but the owners have gotten around this by having one larger communal fridge stocked with a good selection of drinks which one could help oneself to 24/7 or store ones own drinks in. The breakfast is served between 7.30 - 9.30 and all guests sit at a large round table where they can chat and get to know each other. A wide range of goodies can be had at breakfast including cereal, fruit, yogurt, juices, continental style or full English breakfasts, there was enough on offer, one could vary what one ate from day to day without getting bored of eating the same every day. Breakfast was also the ideal chance to get some local knowledge and tips about places to go and explore and our hosts had some wonderful recommendations about restaurants where we could eat and drink in the evenings. They also had a lot of information on local attractions and were quite happy making reservations for us. So Westhill proved to be the perfect place to stay during our visit to Knysna and we will surely be returning some day soon in the not to distant future!"

Roellin und Steve, die Gastgeber, haben es verstanden, uns außergewöhnlich freundlich und zuvorkommend auf familiäre Weise zu verwóhnen, Golf - und Restaurantbuchungen zu erledigen und waren in vielen Dingen sehr hilfsbereit. Das sehr geräumige und außerordertlich saubere Zimmer war nach unserem Geschmack, zudem ein schöner Balkon mit Blick über Knysna und die gesamte Bucht. Phantastisch ! Das Auto konnte im Innenbereich sicher geparkt werden, für die Golfbags war ein seperates "Kammerl" abschließbar zur Verfügung. Ein Swimmingpool zum abkühlen, ein zugänglicher Gartenbereich und wenn nötig eine Bar mit Getränken. Rundum: Ein wirklich toller Aufenthalt. Noch eine Anmerkunk: Wir meinen, für vier Sterne ist die Unterkunft unterbewertet, auch gemessen daran, was so alles mit 4 Sternen angeboten wird."

Roeleen and Steve, the hosts, managed to spoil us exceptionally friendly and accommodating in a family way, making golf and restaurant bookings and were very helpful in many ways The very spacious and extremely clean room was to our liking, plus a nice balcony with views over Knysna and the entire bay. Fantastic ! The car could be safely parked inside, for the golf bags a separate lockable "store room" was available. A swimming pool to cool off, and accessible garden area and if neccessary a bar with drinks. All round: A really great stay. Another note: We think, for 4 stars the accommodation is underrated, measured against what is offered by other 4 stars.)

"We stayed at Westhill for 2 nights last week, what a little gem of a find. Roeleen had even booked a table for dinner for us on the Saturday night. "Large, clean beautifully furnished rooms and bathrooms. All with balconies with fantastic views over the lagoon. Friendly and helpful hosts, good breakfast. Well done Roeleen and Steve. We stayed for 2 weeks and will return. Steve is a mine of information about local history, amenities and places to visit. Knysna is a friendly safe little town and is an excellent centre for touring the area. It has a large selection of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. There are several wildlife parks and centres nearby and a trip out of the heads by boat to see the marine life was a bonus. We couldn't have been made more welcome. Thank you."

"Outstanding first class Guest House"
"Two amazing hosts in Roeleen and Steve, nothing is to much trouble. Large, clean and well appointed rooms all with fantastic views. Breakfast is above the standard fare and will keep you going all day, superb poached eggs. The lodge really has the wow factor, it enjoys an excellent location that is ideal for exploring all that the surrounding area has to offer. We found our hosts invaluable, they provided information about places we would never have found ourselves and even arranged a tour of the local township. The tour was outstanding, we visited a variety of places and all the people we met were so friendly and pleased that we had come to see them. Without having to travel far, we were able to visit the Elephant Park and Snake Park. An excellent wildlife park is nearby and well worth a visit is Simola Golf Club. Knysna is a lovely town with excellent facilities and is an ideal base to explore the area. We were with friends and that added to the enjoyment. I can truly say this was the holiday of a lifetime. We really do hope to be able to go back to Roeleen and Steve's delightful home."

"The Westhill Guest House is truly luxury with large beautifully styled rooms all with fantastic views over Knysna and the Lagoon. The owners Roeleen and Steve have created this wonderful Guest House which must be the best in Knysna. They are excellent hosts and were very helpful providing local knowledge and advice. Westhill is located in a peaceful and extremely secure location with great views yet near the town facilities. All rooms are spacious and have private balcony's with quality en suite bathrooms. The breakfast was plentiful and catered for all tastes. The outdoor pool and bar was an added bonus. This Luxury Guest House is certainly value for money. I would recommend Westhill to friends and family and will return as soon as possible."

"We stayed in the Nautical Room for three nights and could not find a single negative comment to make, however small. Great hosts were very attentive offering good advice on the area. Excellent breakfast made to order. A continental option is also available. The guest house was exceptionally clean. Easy stroll into town for dinner with a restaurant ordered taxi costing just 60 rand for the return. Overall, a very good experience."

"Relaxing guest house"
"We kicked off our recent holiday here, looking for somewhere we could simply relax and rest - perfect. It’s been operating for less than 6 months so everything is brand spanking new and it all works! It’s on a corner plot with secure off-street parking. We had a big bathroom with roomy ‘dinner-plate’ shower; spacious airy room with huge comfortable bed; fluffy dressing-gowns and slippers; effective air-con; the usual tea/coffee station (unfortunately, the mugs are lethal) and safe; reliable free wi-fi plus a dazzling array of well-thought out electrical sockets and charge points including USBs and, uniquely, UK sockets for internationals who may have forgotten their adaptors. No fridge in the room, but a large well-stocked one opposite the communal lounge. This currently looks rather like a doctor’s waiting room but as we were out and about it wasn’t an issue. Only four rooms, and each with a small south-facing verandah seating area with a fantastic view down to Knysna Heads. A warm welcome proffered by hosts Steve (from Watford, UK) & Roleen (originally from EC but been almost everywhere) on arrival, with drinks in the pool house bar. The pool isn’t really big enough for serious swimming but provided a refreshing dip and loungers were available. Breakfast was served at a friendly round table in the dining room where we sat with other guests but received individual service. My husband loved the daily warm rolls in particular. If any corners have been cut it’s in the quality of juice and yoghurts which seems a bit odd, but a great deal of care was taken on presenting a personalised hot breakfast as well as a carefully presented plate of cold meats & cheese. So new that there are no directional brown signs on the street yet. If you struggle, look for ‘Paradise Heads’ and take the first right after that. A short but steep walk into town if you’re feeling keen. A great find."

"This guesthouse is lovely, we had a very nice stay there. I's located on the hill and has a nice view over Knysna. The room was spacious and very clean (with sea view!). Especially the hosts are extremely helpful and know the region very well to give good tips. Breakfast is great too. We can recommend it!"

"We had a very comfortable stay here. The room was spacious and very clean, with everything you need for a super stay! The guesthouse itself is within easy walking distance to all the wonderful things Knysna has to offer. Most importantly, the owners couldn't do more to help us with our adventures. So kind - even helping us find some good discounts. I loved the bar, and my partner also loved the swimmingpool and started every morning with a swim - I started every morning with an excellent breakfast! (I recommend the scrambled egg!)."

"Wir haben ein paar wunderschöne Tage in diesem traumhaften Guesthouse verbracht. Die Besitzer Roeleen und Steven haben sich so herzlich um uns gekümmert, dass wir uns schon nach einem Tag wie Freunde fühlten. Unser Zimmer mit Blick zum Meer war ein Traum! Groß, hell, modern und mit allem Komfort. Ebenso das Bad. Alles ist noch ganz neu und blitzblank sauber. Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es gibt nur drei Zimmer, daher ist es sehr ruhig und angenehm. Das Frühstück ist üppig und lecker. Alle Gäste sitzen an einem großen runden Tisch im Esszimmer, so kommt man zwanglos ins Gespräch. Der gepflegte Garten mit Pool ist wunderschön, ebenso die kleine Poolbar. Die Lage ist super, fussläufig 20 Minuten zum Hafen. Sicherer Stellplatz fürs Auto. Schöner und netter hätten wir in Knysna nicht wohnen können. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!!
(We spent a few wonderful days in this fantastic guesthouse. The owners Roeleen and Steven looked after us so warmly that only after a day we felt like friends. Our room overlooking the sea was a dream! Large, bright modern and with all comforts. Likewise the bathroom. Everything is still brand new and sparkling clean. Very tastefully furnished. There are only three rooms, so it is very quiet and pleasant. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious. All guests sit at a large round table in the dining room, so you easily get into a conversation. The well kept garden with pool is beautiful, as is the small pool bar. The location is great, 20 minutes walk to the harbour. Secure parking space for the car. We could not have stayed in a more beautiful or nicer place in Kynsna. We will definitely come back!!)

"Just not long enough"
"If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Knysna and you’re unsure where to go – just book this place and stop worrying. The house itself is immaculate and tastefully done, and the amount of thought that Steve and Roleen have put in to it’s renovation is impressive to say the least (UK plug sockets for instance) and they seem to have thought of everything. The rooms are really spacious and light, the bathrooms are huge, the pool area is lovely and well maintained, the breakfast area (and breakfast itself) are excellent. The owners are the most helpful and friendly people you could hope to meet – they even reserved a table at a restaurant and then dropped us off as they were going that way anyway. They will happily give you lots of information and helpful tips for your stay if you want them, or leave you alone if that’s what you want. The house is located just up a hill in town, which means that it has great views of the bay from your private balcony but also means you’re away from any noise. We really had a perfect (but too brief) stay – I could go on and on, but you should just go and see for yourself."

"Where to start ? It´s a beautifull and luxurious guesthouse in a quiet residential area with stunning view of the lagoon. The whole place is kept immaculately. But the real reason you shoud definitely stay here are Roeleen and Steve. You couldn´t feel more at home while on holiday. The location is very good and in 15 minutes you reach the waterfront. The breakfast is rich and wishes are fulfilled individually. To the hosts. Steve and Roeléén are two good-hearted people who know incredibly much about the local and even more distant activities. They are very helpful and help with reservations and other things. We also had some interesting discussions over a glass of wine and took a lot with us. I could call them host families instead of hosts.
