We depart from Hartenbos station where our gleaming steam locomotive with her vintage coaches awaits you. Our destination is the picturesque Great Brak River station where our passengers can disembark for 1 hour while the thirsty beast receives a much-needed water supply in her tender by the crew. Passengers can enjoy a short stroll to the lagoon or enjoy a coffee/cooldrink or snack at the adjacent restaurant and stalls located on the lawns. The train driver’s whistle signals his readiness for our departure time and our journey back to Hartenbos station, where we will disembark.

One Night in Spain depicts a variety of Spanish dance styles, such as traditional, classical and Flamenco. The colourful Spanish dresses, upbeat music and castanets promise to entertain young and old. The dancers' ages range from twelve to 64 years. Each dancer who will be on stage, has trained hard for months, in class but also at home, to give concertgoers a fully Spanish experience that feels like they are in a Tavern in Spain.

Rolls-Royce and the equally exalted upper-crust British marque, Bentley, will be showcased as the headline act in a special commemoration for British cars. Up to 1,000 cars are being catered for, and, as usual, a huge variety of vintage vehicles and classics with origins from Europe, America and Japan will be on display, as well as classic and vintage motorcycles, tractors, trucks, modern supercars, and more regular modern cars. This year the organisers are planning to have twice as many classic and vintage motorcycles as there were last year.

This will be an ambitious four-day event, open to all cars registered for the George Old Car Show. The rally will be run to regulations as laid down by the South African Vintage and Veteran Association (SAVVA) and Motorsport South Africa (MSA). Competitors will be required to nominate the average speeds for their cars over the timed sections of the rally, ranging from 65 to 95 km/h, according to the age of their vehicles. Veteran cars are those built before 1918, vintage cars are built up until 1930, and the classic cars eligible for the rally are to have been built before 31st of December, 1975. The Tour which runs alongside the rally each day is non-competitive, for those owners simply wishing to enjoy their cars in the company of other enthusiasts, in compelling scenery over interesting roads.

The spirit of music courses through the veins of Eleonora Spina and Michele Benignetti. Coming from a strong musical lineage with backgrounds as soloist and chamber musicians, Eleonora and Michele's partnership as a piano duo took off in 2013 and was met immediately with positive critical acclaim. Their concert activity has seen them perform in concert halls throughout Europe and across the globe, and they were awarded the Gold Medal at the Manhattan International Music Competition in New York. Their programme includes performing The Trout by Schubert, and from Die Fledermaus by Strauss.

Dave has recently published his book “Agter Plettenbergbaai: Matjesfontein 340 and the Read Family” and will talk about his association with the Read family from Keurbooms. The first Read family arrived in the Cape in 1808. After James wife passed away he moved to Plettenberg Bay and married Elizabeth Terblans. As the family grew they acquired land from the Keurbooms River to the Matjes River, the Crags, Natures Valley and Storms River Village. Very successful farmers and business men for over 100 years.

We depart from Hartenbos with our DIESEL Locomotives and travel to Albertinia station where the locomotives will turn around. Guests will have a half hour to stretch their legs. We then depart on the return journey and stop at the Gourits River Bridge where Bon Game Reserve will transport all the guest down to the riverbed and lodge. Food stalls will be available, and you can book a game drive or Hover craft trip. For those that book the VIP Dining Lounge, a wine tasting is included in the ticket price.

“Rabies in Cape Fur Seals” Chanel Visser, Senior Marine Field Ranger for CapeNature, Plettenberg Bay presents “Uncovering the Hidden Threat: Investigating Unprovoked Aggression in Cape Fur Seals.” Recent observations have revealed a disturbing trend of unprovoked aggression in Cape Fur Seals in South Africa, sparking concerns of a potential endemic. Chanel will share insights into seal/human conflicts, investigate possible causes and consequences, and discuss Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for addressing and managing the issue drawing from a National workshop which was held in Cape Town in July 2024 and from her expertise and firsthand experience in marine research and conservation.

A spectacular show of Retro Classics and Modern Supercars. We are focusing on sporty classics of all makes. In tradition with the Southern Cape region of the Mercedes-Benz Club’s annual spring Snoek Braai, now in its 28th year, entrants can purchase a Snoek picnic basket during registration and enjoy lunch under the trees amidst beautiful motorcars and fellow enthusiasts. Food stalls and beer garden will be available on the day.
